Wolverine Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-owned generation and transmission electric cooperative based in Cadillac. It supplies wholesale electric power to five member cooperatives:
- Cherryland Electric Cooperative in Grawn
- Great Lakes Energy in Boyne City
- HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative in Portland
- Presque Isle Electric & Gas Cooperative in Onaway
- Wolverine Power Marketing Cooperative in Cadillac
Wolverine Power:
- Owns and operates five electric generating facilities capable of producing 200 megawatts of internal generation, primarily peaking capacity
- Maintains 130 distribution substations and 36 transmission substations
- Serves member-cooperatives with over 1,600 miles of bulk transmission lines
- Owns and operates a state-of-the-art Energy Control Center for monitoring all transmission and merchant functions
- Had an annual peak demand in 2004 of 415 megawatts
- Sold a total of 2,129,651 MWh to transmission members systems in 2004
- Receives all financing from the private sector, with no government funding
- Is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
