4 1/2 c. sugar
1 t. salt
1 c. cornstarch
4 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
10 c. water
3 T. lemon juice
apples, peeled, cored and sliced, enough to fill 6 qt. jars
Combine sugar, salt, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and water. Cook until bubbly, add lemon juice. Fill hot jars with sliced apples, then fill with syrup Hot water bath for 20 minutes after it starts boiling. Makes 6 quarts. When ready to use, place a bottom crust in a 9 inch pie pan. Pour in 1 jar of canned apple slices. Top with another crust. Bake at 400° for 30 minutes.
